Buying tea on the street. The tea is incredibly fragrant, and comes with saffron sugar swizzle sticks! Oh, and it’s served in Starbucks cups! Mohsen asked the vendor, but he wasn’t aware of what Starbucks was... not sure where they get the cups, but we’ve had them at a couple of chai stalls now. Hugo loves the tea (and sugar...), and had already sussed our how to identify the roving tea vendors within a few hours of our arrival in Tehran! #tea #tehran #iraniantea #travelwithkids #peregrinology The most breathtaking building I think I’ve ever been in. The Ayatollah Khomeini Mausoleum in Tehran. It’s not that modest, but it certainly is beautiful, peaceful, awe-inspiring, and incredible. Construction started in 1989 and is still ongoing in this 20,000sqm project!! People come here not just to pay their respects to Imam Ruhollah Khomeini, but to pray, and just hang out. There is a definite ‘energy’ to the place, and it was such an amazing place to visit on our first day in Iran! #tehran #iran #iransightseeing #livelife #peregrinology #travelwithkids Salam Iran! 🇮🇷 🤗 #travelwithkids #unusualdestinations #iran #tehran #peregrinology So, of course the first Iran post had to be a food post!
Food was a big reason I’ve wanted to visit #iran for so long, and our first meal did not disappoint! Lamb neck, chicken & aubergine, lentil & barley soup, bread, and salads... washed down with doogh (savory yoghurt drink). That lamb... words can literally not describe how tender and tasty it was! There is a high probability that this is going to turn into a two week feast!!! #iranianfood #tehran #persia #travel #unusualdestinations #travelwithkids #peregrinology We’re off to Iran for a couple of weeks tonight, so not sure what Social Media interaction will be like. But be rest assured we will be experiencing and eating the heck out of this new country on our list! See you soon muchachos! 🤗 #travel #travelwithkids #unusualdestinations #noregrets #livelife #peregrinology #iran Still catching up on Seattle posts! This is by far the coolest and most fun cocktail I’ve ever had... a Skinny Bitch (oh, the irony)... Vodka, grapefruit and cranberry poured over candy floss! I had to have two. Because, y’know... Seattle and special people @maegan.blackwell #cocktails #vodka #seattle #travel #family #peregrinology ...and doughnuts and coffee (with Ovaltine!!!) to warm up after the bike ride, as recommended by Maegan‘s son Callum, and Barack Obama (who came here in 2010!). These boys have great taste... it was a brilliant post-ride stop! #coffee #donuts #seattle #peregrinology Historic Seattle bike ride with my cousin @maegan.blackwell and her family! Through the new I99 tunnel, then along the old (soon to be demolished) viaduct! 12,000 people riding, great and unique views of the city, and a really cool (literally - about 3°C!) day out! Thanks also to the friendly guys at @seattlepd who posed for a photo for Hugo too ✌🏼👮🏼‍♀️ #cycling #seattle #tunnelride #family #historicrides #peregrinology We asked one of the staff at the Wing Luke Museum for food recommendations... she said she’d grown up in a local restaurant so we figured she’d know a good place... Dough Zone was fabulous! Pigs ears, wonton soup, soup dumplings, boa, and prawn dumplings, washed down with cloudy sake and the ubiquitous Tsing Tao... my happy food face in a happy food place... so, so good!! #chinesefood #dumplings #chinatown #seattle #foodie #peregrinology #foodblogger
